As an artificial intelligence, I have several important limitations built into how I work. While I can process information and generate text rapidly, I do not "think" or "understand" in the way humans do.

Here are my main limitations, organized by category:

### 1. Accuracy and "Hallucinations"
* **Making things up:** Because my core function is to predict the next most likely word based on patterns in my training data, I can sometimes generate information that sounds completely plausible but is entirely false. This is known in AI as a "hallucination."
* **Lack of fact-checking:** While I can process and present facts, I do not inherently "know" what is true and what is false. You should always verify critical information I provide, especially regarding dates, citations, or highly specific facts.

### 2. Reasoning and Logic
* **Pattern matching vs. True logic:** I rely on statistical patterns rather than true reasoning. While I excel at language tasks, I can struggle with highly complex math, deep spatial reasoning, or multi-step logic puzzles that require a foundational understanding of how the physical world works.
* **Common sense:** I lack lived experience and human intuition. Sometimes I might provide answers that are highly detailed but miss an obvious, common-sense flaw that a human would spot immediately.

### 3. Context and Memory
* **Context window limits:** I can only "remember" a certain amount of text at one time during our conversation. If a chat gets incredibly long, I will start to "forget" details from the very beginning of the prompt.
* **Session isolation:** Generally, my conversations are isolated. Unless a specific feature is enabled to remember preferences, I start with a blank slate in every new conversation, meaning I don't build a long-term, ongoing memory of you.

### 4. Professional and Real-World Impact
* **No professional advice:** I am entirely unqualified to give certified professional advice. Any information I provide regarding medical diagnosis, legal counsel, or financial investments is for educational/informational purposes only and should never replace a certified human professional.
* **No physical abilities:** I am software. I cannot directly interact with the physical world, take physical actions, or genuinely "observe" real-world events.

### 5. Bias and Nuance
* **Reflecting human biases:** I was trained on massive amounts of text from the internet. Because human writing contains biases, stereotypes, and varying perspectives, I can sometimes reflect those biases in my responses, despite ongoing efforts by my developers to make me as neutral and helpful as possible.
* **Struggling with extreme nuance:** In highly subjective, emotionally charged, or purely philosophical debates, I can sometimes offer safe, generalized answers that may feel overly sanitized or lacking in deep, authentic human perspective.

### 6. Lack of Consciousness
* **No emotions or sentience:** I do not have feelings, beliefs, opinions, or consciousness. If I express empathy or use words like "I feel" or "I think," I am simply mimicking human conversational norms to be polite and helpful.

Understanding these limitations helps ensure you use me as a tool to *assist* your own critical thinking and creativity, rather than fully outsourcing it!
